Hi, I'm Milos —
and I eat a lot.
Ukus started because I couldn't find a good way to remember the restaurants that actually stayed with me. Not a star rating on a map — but the dish, the moment, the reason I'd drag a friend there next week.
I've always logged the things I love. Music, films, books — there are beautiful tools for all of them. Restaurants had nothing that felt quite right. I wanted something I could actually enjoy using: something that looked good, felt personal, and that I could share with friends without it feeling like a Yelp review. I called it Ukus — the Serbian word for flavour — partly as a nod to my heritage, and partly because it captures what I actually care about most at the table: not the atmosphere, not the accolades, but the flavour itself, and the way a single dish can carry you somewhere entirely new.
Ukus is also, at its core, about small businesses. You won't find major chains here — not because of a technical limitation, but because that's a deliberate choice. The restaurants worth remembering are usually the ones run by people who genuinely care about what they're putting on your plate. Those are the places this platform is built to celebrate.
That said — if you log a place, be fair. Small restaurants are fragile. A bad night happens to everyone. Be honest, be critical when it matters, but lead with what was good. These are real people's livelihoods, and thoughtful reviews do more good than brutal ones.
What makes Ukus
different
Not a booking platform, not a delivery app, not a social network selling you ads. Just a clean, personal record — yours.
Know your taste
Visualise your dining journey — cuisines explored, cities visited, rating trends over time.
Social discovery
Follow the people whose taste you trust. See where they're eating before you even have to ask.
No noise
No ads, no sponsored listings, no dark patterns. Just your food, your reviews, your record.
Ukus is an independent project — I handle everything from the codebase to the design to whatever passes for marketing. It's a one-person operation, which means it moves at a human pace, but it also means every decision is made with care rather than by committee.
If you'd like to contribute, have thoughts on where the product should go, or if you're interested in collaborating on the development or marketing side — I'd genuinely love to hear from you. And if you just want to talk food, that works too. Reach out any time →
